The Biokinetic Humanitarian Project (BHP)
Having conducted six successful events thus far, the BHP is a public health intervention programme aimed towards increasing physical activity, education and participation. The BHP intervention includes glucose testing, body composition, blood pressure, heart rate, disease risk stratification, patient education, home/gymnasium exercise prescriptions and sample massages. The benefits of the BHP intervention include:
- Enhancement of well-being, lifestyle, quality of life and health
- Awareness and knowledge of health and exercise
- Interest and initiative regarding physical activity, adequate lifestyle and nutrition
- Individuals know where they stand with regards to their health status, annually or bi-annually
With two peer-reviewed articles currently published, the BHP intervention has been shown to improve physical health measures consequently advocating that it is a much needed intervention to prevent non-communicable diseases.
